Whether upgrading a Cocoon Classic adding more structure to your tunnel or adding additional purlins to your tunnel sides, our Steel Purlin upgrade kits dramatically increases your Cocoon Tunnel’s ability to withstand wind and heavy rain/hail loads, increasing overall strength and rigidity, and turning it into a four-season structure.

We know of at least one Cocoon Tunnel fitted with a centre purlin that withstood a metre of snow like a ‘champ’ (Although we don’t recommend trying this at your farm!)

Each kit includes purlins, joiner sleeves, purlin end saddle kits and Tek screws. Cross Connector pairs and Purlin Saddle with 3 x 12g Tek Screws are sold seperately, you will need one pair for each hoop excluding end hoops (end hoops use the purlin saddle kit provided).

Note: While the purlin will increase rigidity, it will also increase the time and effort involved in moving the tunnel.
