Jang JP Series Seed Rollers

For use with all Jang JP or JPH Series Seeders.

Seed Rollers regulate spacing of seeds, in conjunction with the chain sprockets, driven by the front ‘metering’ wheel to form the seed metering system for small to medium sized seeds. Made from a specialised compound plastic, unique to the Jang seeder, the rollers have non-static and anti-abrasive properties.

The Seed Roller is located at the base of the hopper and is positioned vertically, not horizantally as with many of the larger precision seeders that use seed plates. Changing the roller is easy, it is also possible to use a dedicated hopper, with the roller and brush calibrated specifically, providing increased efficiency in the field.

Seeds are metered by filling a slot on the roller that then passes under the adjustable hopper brush, and flows through to the funnel and into the soil at the rear of the plow shoe. The greater the number of slots on a Seed Roller the closer the seed drop will occur.

The Seed Roller slots range in shape and size to accommodate various types of seeds and seeding requirements, allowing a regulated number of seeds to be held and released per slot. Either single or multiple seeds may be required per drop, an example would be singulation of carrot seed versus multiple mizuna seeds per drop.

The shape and depth of the slots vary from roller to roller to accommodate various seed types and shapes. Mostly shallow and round with varying widths and depths, other slot shapes include;

• an ‘X’ cross shape for elongated small seed such as carrot, lettuce and parsely
• a deeper ‘V’ shape
• a half moon shape for flat seed like parsnip
• a larger squared opening with a wave shape (rollers N, S and U) for use with small legume seed, corn, mixed cover crop and for fertilizer (option for fertilizer hopper)
